SummerSlam has always the potential to be a game-changer for better or worse as one of the four most important pay-per-views on the WWE calendar.

When it’s great, big matches are worth the hype, it crowns new champions, the status quo gets a refresh and hope fills the rest of the year. It can leave a sour taste when it’s bad and take a long time to get back on track.

This year’s series had some unique elements including a WWE Loser Leaves contest. Also, the debut of Dominik Mysterio, many championships on the line and more.

Roman Reigns’s Return in WWE Lackluster SummerSlam Main Event

After an almost five-month absence because of issues about the coronavirus pandemic, Roman Reigns is regaining his place as WWE’s super star. Where he left off, he is right there, competing for the Universal Championship.

Roman Reigns made a shocking return after the match, running into the ring and delivering a spear to The Fiend before doing the same thing to Strowman outside the arena, followed by a series of deadly chair shots to Strowman. Reigns then once again laid out Wyatt and posed to end the series with the universal championship.

Yet the return of Reigns was a complete surprise and in running through the two men who dominated SmackDown’s top end, he looked incredible, bringing some energy to the end of the series.
