Indian Premier League 2020

Tata Sons is one of the leading company in the IPL sponsorship race. All these companies have sent their Expression of Interest (EOI) to the BCCI. These companies are in the race to replace Chinese mobile phone company Vivo this year. The choice of any company does not depend only on the higher bids. But what matters will be the impact on the brand value of the company’s league.

Other companies taking part in the race:

  • Patanjali
  • Jio
  • E-learning platform BYJUS
  • Fantasy sports firm Dream 11
  • Unacademy

Tata Sons has more chances of getting IPL sponsorship according to a report. The brand experts believe that the sponsorship of a big company like Tata will have a beneficial effect. It also has foreign investment and relatively low brand equity. All the companies are ready to pay more than Rs 200 crore. Tata Sons is a good brand because it is a non-controversial brand. Its image is clean. BCCI is trying to reduce losses by 75 percent after Chinese mobile maker Vivo India exited. BCCI used to earn Rs 440 crore from Vivo every year.

These brands are less likely to sponsor

The BCCI needs to be told that which domestic company will selected for sponsorship. Dream 11 is also taking part in the race. But the problem with them is that three internet startups have invested in it. In which a fund has raised from the Chinese company Tencent Holdings. Meanwhile, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali has also involved in a dispute over covid 19 medicine. It accused Patanjali of violating the rules of clinical trials. So this brand does not fit in the IPL at all. Also, Reliance Industries is a company owned by Jio. RIL is the parent company of IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. Overall, Tata Sons is among the companies taking part in the race for the BCCI.
