Today (Monday 31st Aug 2020) the former president Pranab Mukherjee passed away. However, at the Army Research and Referral hospital the politician had undergone brain surgery. His condition continued to decline after he suffered a septic shock from his lung infection, the hospital said in an official statement. The 84-year-old has hospitalized on 10th August. He had also tested positive for covid-19. His son Abhijeet Mukherjee declared his death.

Son Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted with a heavy heart that, his father Pranab Mukherjee has just passed away at the age of 84 despite the best attempts of doctors of RR Hospital. Abhijit also thanked people of India for their Prayers, Duas and Prarthana. He felt upset because of the demise of his father.

PM Narendra Modi has said India deeply regretted as the Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee passed away. He has left an enduring mark on the progress trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he has honored throughout the political spectrum. He has honoured by all sections of society. PM also stated that, when he was new to Delhi in 2014. From Day 1, it blessed him to have the guidance, assist and graces of Mr. Mukherjee. PM said, he will always cherish his interactions with Pranab Da. PM gives condolences to his family, friends, admirers and supporters throughout India.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi was also going in a deep sorrow when he listens to this. He wrote in a tweet that; the nation is receiving news of our former President Mukherjee’s unfortunate death. He also joined the nation in paying homage to him. However, they admitted Mr. Mukherjee to hospital on Aug 10th. He also had a surgery on that same day for the removal of a clot in the brain. He built up a lung infection and a renal dysfunction over the past few days, according to doctors. This morning, the hospital had reported a decline within the former President’s condition. He had gone into septic shock because of his lung infection.
