MI beat DC in Qualifier Match: Mumbai Becomes First Team to Reach the Final of IPL 2020

First Qualifier winners Mumbai Indians thrashed Delhi Capitals to reach in the final of IPL 2020. In the first play-off, Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 57 runs. Chasing target of 201-runs, Delhi struggled from the start. Delhi’s first three batsmen gets bowled out for 0 runs. In fact, the DC team could not recover from this throughout the inning. Trent Boult took two wickets in the first over and Bumrah took one in the second over. After this, skipper Shreyas Iyer, Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel tried to save Delhi, but they did not even come close to the strong target of 200 runs.

Marcus Stoinis scored 65 off 46 balls; while Akshar Patel scored 42 off 33 balls. Jaspreet Bumrah took 4 wickets, Boult took 2 wickets and Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, the Mumbai batsmen gave an enormous challenge to Delhi by scoring 200 runs on scoreboard. In this match, Delhi Capital’s captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. After this, Mumbai’s captain Rohit Sharma got out on the first ball. But Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav continued to bat aggressively. After the cheap dismissals of Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya literally batted aggressively in the last few overs to take Mumbai to 200 runs. Ishan Kishan scored an unbeaten 55 off 30 balls; however, Hardik Pandya scored 37 runs off 14 balls. Suryakumar Yadav scored 51 off 38 balls and Quinton de Kock scored 40 off 25 balls. From Delhi, Ashwin took the most 3 wickets, while Anrich Nortje and Marcus Stoinis took 1-1 wickets each.

This is Delhi’s third defeat against Mumbai Indians in this IPL Season 13. However, Mumbai had beaten Delhi in both the group stage matches. Now, if Delhi want to reach the final, they will have to beat a winning team of eliminator game i.e. from either Bangalore or Hyderabad.
