New Delhi: On Friday, the Centre revealed the very first look of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train. The train can gain a peak speed of 180 km / hour on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. The design has aroused by the famous Lotus Temple of Delhi. In fact, they also align it with PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ movement.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) showed the 1st look of the RRTS on Friday. The MoHUA stated that, it perhaps the airfoils RRTS trains would be light-weight and fully air-conditioned with a stainless steel outer body coating.
A NCRTC official has asserted that the RRTS trains will travel at a speed that is 3 times faster than the Delhi Metro. As per NCRTC, a joint venture firm of Govt of India and certain states has taken this push. Those states are Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The combined efforts of all these bodies trying to implement the RRTS venture throughout the region of India’s National Capital.
The official pointed out that people travelling on RRTS trains could have a ‘aeroplane-like’ perspective; because the coaches would have all the trendy amenities available same like a passenger planes. Given the maximum operating speed of 160 KMPH and stations every 5-10 km; they have designed the trains. While keeping in mind about the high acceleration and deceleration that they might want to bear.
When will RRTS going to operate in India?
In 2022, the system design has planned to roll off the production line and will put into citizen use with in-depth testing. In fact, The Delhi-Merrut RRTS 17-km priority corridor from Sahibabad to Duhai will be ready for implementation in 2023. Also, the entire corridor will be functional by 2025, as stated by the official.
The very first RRTS corridor to carry out in India seems to be the 82 km-long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. It will reduce the journey time from Delhi to Meerut to less than an hour. In fact, it’s far less than the journey time by highway (3-4 hours).
