KXIP Records Big Win Against RCB: KL Rahul Shines with the Bat

Dubai: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) recorded their first win of the IPL season 13 by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They have achieved this victory with a far margin of 97 run in a one-sided match. In fact, the KXIP captain hits a brilliant unbeaten century. In reply to 207, Virat Kohli’s side were all out for 109 in 17 overs only. The hero of Punjab’s victory was captain KL Rahul. He scored 132 not out. After that, their bowlers gave RCB no chance to remain in the match.

RCB scattered, losing 3 wickets for just 4 runs

People noticed that the RCB was under tremendous pressure of chasing a massive target of 206 runs. They lost 3 important wickets at the start of the innings. Sheldon Cottrell caught Devdutt Padikkal (1) who scored a brilliant half-century in the last match, and Virat Kohli (1). While Mohammed Shami sent Josh Philip (0) to the pavilion without opening an account. The Royals lost 3 of their crucial wickets for just 4 runs.

Finch- De Villiers partnership

After losing 3 wickets early, Aaron Finch and AB De Villiers tried to handle the innings. De Villiers also hit 4 fours and 1 six from one end. Finch had scored from the other end and hit three fours. But Ravi Bishnoi dismissed him. In the next 3 balls, Morgan Ashwin caught De Villiers in his net. Now the Royals had lost 5 wickets for 57 runs.

7 players out before 90

The Royals’ defeat was almost over after De Villiers Finch but Shivam Dubey along with Washington Sundar tried to close the gap but Glenn Maxwell gave him as sixth wicket as Dubey (12). However, Umesh Yadav had also got bowled by Ravi Bishnoi. Here RCB lost its 7th wicket.

Innings of Kings XI Punjab

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab got off to a good start after captains KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, KXIP lost the toss and invited to bat first. Both batsmen added a 50-run partnership in the power-play losing no wickets. But RCB skipper Virat Kohli attacked his smart bowler Yuzvendra Chahal as soon as the power play was over. Chahal bowled Mayank Agarwal (26) in the first over on his googly. Mayank could not understand Chahal’s googly.

RCB gave up 74 Runs in last 4 Overs

Nicholas Puran (17) then shared a 57-run partnership with Rahul for the second wicket. Glenn Maxwell (5) was also dropped some time later. Punjab were 128 for one after they dismissed Maxwell in the 16th over. The Royal Challengers team now seemed in control of the Kings. But the Kings captain was at the crease and he changed gears by changing the situation. The Kings scored 74 runs in the last 4 overs and knocked Bangalore out of the match.

50 off the last 15 balls of his innings

After 16 overs, he scored 72 runs off 51 ball. He then quickly scored 50 in the last 15 balls of his innings. Rahul also got life here twice. On both occasions, opposing skipper Virat Kohli dropped his two easy catches and gave a chance to score a century. Rahul didn’t stop until the century was over and in the last two overs he hit 5 sixes to take the Kings to 200.
