Serbia’s world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic, Switzerland’s Roger Federer and Spain’s Rafael Nadal has identified as the three tennis giants. This is the first time in sixteen years that none of the Grand Slam have reached a decisive battle. Earlier in 2004, all three giants did not play quarter finals in French Open. Federer then had to face defeat to Gustavo Kuerten in the third round. Now this has happened at the US Open.
Actually, Nadal could not take part in the tournament this year because of Corona and injury. In the absence of these two, Djokovic entered the tournament as a strong contender for the 18th Grand Slam. However, his temperamental attitude left him out of the tournament. They beat the ball line judge during a match. The result was that he had to look out of the tournament.
This time Dominic Thiem from Austria won the US Open men’s singles title by defeating Alexander Zverev in an unprecedented tiebreaker in the fifth set after losing two sets. He became the first player in 71 years to return after losing two sets. The visitors, who were on the verge of defeat at the Arthur Ashe Stadium without an audience, won 2–6, 4–6, 6–4, 6–3, 7–6 in his first Grand Slam title.
Three veterans also ruled in US Open
Talking about the American Open, these players have also a tremendous influence here. In the 16 years between 2004 and 2019 at the US Open, these three giants Djokovic, Federer and Nadal have won 12 titles. Other players captured the title in 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2016. Also, Nadal emerged as the four-time US Open champion. He won the cup in 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019. Djokovic held the titles in 2011, 2015, and 2018. From 2004 to 2008, Federer became champion for five consecutive times.
Whenever tennis men have discussed, the names of three veterans are at the top. The reason for this is that for the last more than a decade these three players have shared the titles among themselves. If you look at the record, 56 Grand Slam have made their names. This is enough to state his reign in the world of tennis. It was the last time in 2016 that anyone other than these three had captured the title. According to the figures, these three players has named in the last 13 Grand Slam.
A mistake by Djokovic extended his wait
Djokovic may be the world’s number one player but they also discuss his anger. This anger made him the third player to disqualified in the 140-year Grand Slam history. In Grand Slam history, Djokovic has eliminated before the John McEnroe Australian Open in 1990 and Stephen Kuback from the French Open in 2000.
